When you sell your Portland area home...ideally, it's staged to perfection. Whether it's with your furniture or that of a stager/designer, you want it at its absolute best.
Sometimes, though, reality gets in the way of ideally. Kids, pets, work...it adds up.
That doesn't mean you should throw in the towel and give up, though. When prepping your rooms, walk out and re-enter as though you were touring the room for the first time. Look at the wall opposite of your entry, or, if there are multiple, look at the room's best feature - the one you want buyers to notice.
Make that space as close to perfect as you can. If there's "extra" stuff in the room you just can't get rid of, put it on the opposite wall. Then, when buyers are looking at the best part of the room, they will have their backs turned to the worst of it.
If you have big windows that look out to the city or just your back yard, make sure that they are unobstructed and that there is no clutter beneath them.
You always want buyers to focus on the upside. If you can't perfect your rooms, at least allow the buyers to focus on the best part (or wall) of each and you'll still be headed in the right direction.
